Great, I hope you enjoy. And yes I do like Social D and Mike Ness. Great for a change of pace. I threw it on because I thought it is a great cover. Ring of Fire is a great tune and doing a great cover of a great tune is not an easy task. Something I think the Grateful Dead could do so well.

As for Roy Orbison, I think he had an amazing voice but I could see if you don't like that voice you might not put him in that elite group. I personally like Cash better. He has appeal to both rock and country listerners and seemed to transcend time.

Yeah--Cash is amazing; I love Roy too, but can see the problem with his voice (as above)...Also love Kris Kristof, but for him, just some of the songs rather than the voice...

Roy was a vocal phenom for sure. My issues with his stuff relates to the cheesy productions of the day and some producer thinking that extra strings or percussion were necessary for dramatic effect. With a voice such as that a real minimalist approach (ala Rick Rubin and Cash) could be chilling with the proper song selection.

The HBO Special, Black and White Night, as well as his work on the Traveling Wilburys really seemed to bring his stuff forward in time. (BTW, Ron Tutt was the drummer on the HBO thing...an Elvis and JGB veteran.)

It remains a shame that he passed when he did, given the direction he was heading.
